One Shirt. Two Nights. No Repeats.
Two nights. Two legendary setlists. One shirt that carries them both.
The Metallica M72 Frankfurt Night 1 and Night 2 Double-Sided T-Shirt is the only piece of official merchandise that captures both performances at Deutsche Bank Park on May 22 and May 24, 2026. This is not a generic tour tee. This is a city-specific, event-locked collectible built for the night you were there.
A Frankfurt Artist Designed for a Frankfurt Show
The artwork was created by Max Löffler, a Frankfurt-area illustrator whose concept-driven, surrealist style has earned him recognition from the Society of Illustrators, the American Illustration Awards, and clients ranging from The New Yorker and The New York Times to Pearl Jam, Pixies, and Elton John. Metallica’s choice of Löffler is deliberate: a German artist, rooted in the Frankfurt region, creating artwork for a Frankfurt show. That alignment is rare in large-scale tour merchandise.
The front design, representing Night 1, centers on a cloaked Grim Reaper holding a human skull against a storm-lit Gothic castle backdrop. Rich in purples, blacks, and fire orange, it channels the weight of “72 Seasons” as an album: the past as a haunting presence that follows us into adulthood. The back design, Night 2, shifts to power. A massive eagle, wings fully spread, stands over a skull in tones of deep teal and erupting amber. The eagle is a direct visual reference to the Bundesadler, Germany’s federal coat of arms, reimagined through Löffler’s dark surrealist lens. Two nights, two emotional registers, two complementary icons.
The Only Item That Documents Both Nights
Every stop on the M72 World Tour features its own location-exclusive artwork, sold only at the Pop-Up Shop tied to that specific city. Frankfurt sold out. The No Repeat Weekend format means Night 1 and Night 2 each carried a completely different setlist, and this double-sided shirt is the only single item that documents both. It is a wearable archive of a show Metallica has not played in Frankfurt since 2009, designed by an artist who lives in the shadow of the venue itself.
Collectors know: once the Pop-Up Shop closes, the design disappears with it.
